Logo

The tones of this photo are lovely.. but what attracts me the most is the logo/watermark.. the placing and minimalism is perfect.

Need some ideas for the lifeless logo.. maybe
 >LIFE (more than life) or
  (less than life)
hmm.. just life is not great.

would love to be lessthanthree <3 :p=":p" a="a" are="are" availible="availible" bit="bit" but="but" domains="domains" maybe="maybe" no="no" p="p" pukey="pukey" there="there" too="too">
could go for another of the same style like.. colonparenthesis, doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.  think i'll abandon that idea :/

maxi-macro

After looking at http://www.photographyserved.com/Gallery/Your-beautiful-eyes/428809 .. the eyes look like landscapes some sculpted out of sand...

Why not play with perception and build a big one out of sand and shoot with tilt to make it look macro?

Could expand this to other fake small things.. kinda like a reverse slinkachu

Faith in abilities

Possibly images of people having a hard time doing a task ..
This goes deeper if the person is passionate about the task, who really wants or needs it to be done but still failing - anger, frustration etc..

A couple of ideas

One idea I just thought of - hardware appendages, I took jake's external disk drive put it on my crotch then ejected it - imagining a white disk being ejected with something like 'sperm' or 'dna' written on it.  Also brings me back to when I was just imagining having a diskdrive input on my body somewhere..

The other idea was an older one shooting through a thin layer of meat - getting a diffused image with a veiny meating texture

The final eight

The provisional final eight images for the project in its current state:-

Object intimate

At the end of this shoot I decided to shoot from a different angle; moving away from an object in the middle of black space, this is more a intimate view of the shape abstracted from the curves of a body.  Not so analytical and still life, but still just as abstract.

Face

Even less abstract; more a tracing of contours to define a shape.  There's no hiding a face in it's entirety, we're too programmed in it's recognition.

Heart

Not entirely abstract; it's not hard to see what this actually is, but this has some duality with a heart.  The distorted grid does little to changed the perceived shape, I've chosen to keep some of the grey shading which I don't know if helps the deformation but keeps the image representing an object rather than an abstract pattern.

Don't control

Once again, someone else's shoot.. it's raining and a spare model is helping out, keeping the already damp girl dry.  I'm not in control of anyone here, and I like that.. just capturing what is there, doing something not for my camera.

I can debate with myself if this behaviour is better or worse for my images; I'm confident I can create and control a scene to photograph, but still I mostly choose not too.. even if it leads to some awkwardness.  If I start controlling everything I feel I lose an undefinable quality that only authentic images have.

What's this girl with ripped fishnets doing in the underpass anyway?

After a gig I was shooting, I found a quality in the green glow of the underpass light.  I've always loved the mix of light of the city at night; vivid greens and oranges etc.. but never before having a person in frame, the low light doesn't make it easy.. poppy here had to stand perfectly still, but the result has some of the feeling of the place.

What's this girl with ripped fishnets doing in the underpass?  ..  Waiting for me.

I'll call him Rudolf

Nothing like a bit of real life gore, so was pleased to come across this fresh kill a few years back.  Not sure what tore it's throat out but it hadn't yet been consumed..

Preparation

The process of preparation intrigues me more than the final result, I find I have a lot of these images when models are getting ready for a shoot, I snap away partly to submerge myself into the camera; changing my thought patterns into the deeper, calmer state I like to shoot in.

The images are always natural, and often intimate.. like they are preparing themselves for the shoot also.  This wasn't even my model, I was just assisting!

Self Portrait

Chosen for a new facebook portrait for my artist's page.. something recent where I've put my own face in the path of my projected image.

I always edit myself to be gritty; all skin flaws shown, I never even think about using the clone brush.. This says something about me; open and accepting of my own flaws.. but more if you choose to look deeper.

I'm going to try to put up some old photo's that've never seen the light, as well as current work..

This is the scene as I found it; One melted, one flying.

Some of my favourite images are these found scenes, I often wish I had my camera on me; when you take a lot of pictures you start to see the world in a different context.. Like when you drive you see the world as roads and signals (and adverts!), when you play a computer game you see a world constructed for you.. and when you imagine a camera in your hand you cut your world into frames, as perceptively flawed than your eyes (Perception is for another time).

Projection Progress

One reveals the shape; abstracting the human body to a porcelain-like object. The other distorts the shape turning it into something that doesn't settle so easily on the eye.

The Whores

Bright lights flashed in the background silhouetting the singer of The Whores where she stood a quarter of a second ago..

Pink & Black

I'm attracted to bold images.. high contrast, bright colours.. artistically speaking I'm not sure how this fits in but I enjoy it.. especially when I have models like Millie to work with!
